Counter Culture's Contribution to Today's Art Movements
This presentation explores the current state of the New Contemporary Art movement. Current counter-culture genres have emerged into the spotlight of the creative class. The talk will present a vast overview of how graffiti, skateboarding, hip-hop and punk rock cultures have emerged from the underground to be coveted by art collectors, art auctions, museums, and the mainstream. Jesse Cory is currently CEO of 1xRUN, a Detroit based publisher of fine art editions. He also co-founded the Inner State Gallery in Eastern Market as well as Murals in the Market, Detroit’s first international mural festival. This lecture is for adults 50+.
