As half of the charismatic and jazzy folk duo The Story in the early 1990s, Jonatha Brooke gained a strong following that stuck with her through the dissolution of that duo and her subsequent efforts to find a place for her music in the increasingly pigeonhole-crazy music industry. Finally she began releasing albums on her own Bad Dog label and honing her songwriting chops. Jonatha has been called a Rickie Lee Jones for modern times, and she's a songwriter who's constanly growing. "Brooke's voice continues to be a marvel of grace and dexterity," says Performing Songwriter, and The New Yorker calls her "charming and very funny" and "a seasoned musician with a beautiful voice." Jonatha is coming to Michigan with new music, so come and hear what this Ark favorite has been up to lately!
