The Complexity of Homelessness

Volunteering and Discussion

Study Guide Study Guide
Study Guide
Have you wondered what it's like to be homeless? This service-learning course is an intensive introduction to the complexity of homelessness, with a focus on historical, psychological and political perspectives. This class combines weekly volunteer work in the Ann Arbor homeless community with discussion and reflection on these experiences, connecting them to larger themes of empowerment, inclusion and activism, while challenging stereotypes about homelessness. A variety of speakers, short readings, videos and activities will also help us think critically about the nuances of homelessness in Ann Arbor and beyond. Instructor: Kiela Crabtree. This class for adults over 50 meets Mondays through November 28th.
