DuPont famously promised us "Better Living through Chemistry," and chemistry is indeed essential to our lives. Everything we hear, see, smell, taste, and touch involves chemical reactions and interactions in our bodies. We'll explore a few of these chemical reactions and their positive and negative effects on our bodies, using case studies such as the Flint water crisis, P.B.B., thalidomide and other incidents. Norm Samuelson has an M.S. in Chemistry from Wayne State University. He taught chemistry at Wayne County Community College, where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2006. This class for adults over 50 meets Mondays through November 28th.
