Jerry L. Clayton has served as Washtenaw County Sheriff since January 1, 2009. Prior to being elected, he served twenty years with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office in a variety of capacities, from Corrections Officer to SWAT Team Commander. He has also worked in the private sector as a partner and Vice President of Lamberth Consulting, LLC, a company providing statistical analysis and training to address racial profiling and biased law enforcement. He has been a certified criminal justice trainer and instructor for more than sixteen years, specializing, among other things, in preventing racial profiling.
