The Hilbert Scheme parameterizes closed subschemes of projective space. In this talk, we will discuss the geometry of the Hilbert Scheme. Our starting point will be the following result of Hartshorne: the Hilbert Scheme of subschemes of P^n with fixed Hilbert polynomial is connected. We will move on to discuss pathological properties of this scheme. Speaker(s): Harold Blum (UM)
