The Michigan Chamber Players continues its 2016-17 season with a program curated by Stephen Shipps, chair of the SMTD Department of Strings. Shipps will be joined by faculty and student colleagues to explore music from across 100 years of American experience, from Arthur Foote’s Piano Trio No. 2, composed in the first years of the 20th century, to Andrew Norman’s Gran Turismo for eight violins, written just a few years after the start of the 21st. Music of Aaron Copland will close out the program: a set of his Old American Songs and the original chamber version of his beloved Appalachian Spring, conducted by cello faculty member Anthony Elliott.
