Boise-born and Boston-based Eilen (rhymes with feelin') Jewell calls herself "nothing but a lonely rambler girl." The Los Angeles Daily News describes Eilen this way: "Sometimes as darkly damaged as Lucinda Williams, at others as defiant and teasing as prime Peggy Lee and always authentically Americana in the Gillian Welch tradition .. She's mighty good." Here's a young artist who connects with the roots of country, blues and rock without losing herself or descending into mannerism. You could call some of her music country-noir, and the strong streak of traditional country in her songs was displayed in full on "Butcher Holler," her 2010 tribute to Loretta Lynn. Eilen comes to Michigan with a new album, "Sundown Over Ghost Town."
