Archaeological dig in Greece Archaeological dig in Greece
Archaeological dig in Greece
Get your hands dirty in northern Greece on this 6-week course that introduces you to the archaeology of domestic buildings and households in theory and practice. Earn 3 credits during two weeks of study-travel, then complete a 4-week archaeological dig on site. The Archaeology in Greece program consists of two modules. The first includes site and museum visits, lectures, and seminars in Athens, Delos, Thessaloniki, Vergina, and Pella. The second module consists of fieldwork on a UM project at Olynthos excavating houses and surveying the area surrounding the ancient city. The program is led and taught by Elina Salminen, a doctoral candidate in Classical Art and Archaeology. Lisa Nevett of the Classical Studies department is co-director of the Michigan Olynthos Project, director of this CGIS program, and will be on site every day.
