Join Leah Wright Rigueur as she provides a new understanding of the interactions between African Americans and the Republican Party, and the seemingly incongruous intersection of civil rights and American conservatism.

Historian Leah Wright Rigueur will also examine the internal crisis and chaos faced by African American members of the Republican Party in the mid-1970s, as they battled among themselves to gain power and influence in a rapidly changing GOP.

Leah Wright Rigueur is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is the author of The Loneliness of the Black Republican: Pragmatic Politics and the Pursuit of Power.
