The planet’s climate is changing, potentially approaching a tipping point. Michigan Engineering alumni are on the forefront of researching and adapting to global warming.

As part of University of Michigan global storytelling, Michigan Engineer Magazine’s photographer and filmmaker Marcin Szczepanski and writers Nicole Moore and Ben Logan documented the work of two such alumni. Brie Van Dam is an atmospheric scientist. She is a crucial set of eyes in Alaska, where she monitors the melting Arctic at Toolik Field Station. Frank Sedlar is an environmental engineer, and as a tech innovator in Indonesia, he’s using Twitter data to warn residents of extreme monsoon flooding.

The exhibition includes about 60 images, 4 short documentary films and written stories that offer Ann Arbor and Southeast Michigan residents an opportunity to examine in close detail the effects of changing climate on two critical parts of the planet: the North Pole and the Equator.

Exhibit open December 6th - December 23rd.

Opening reception Friday, December 9th at 5 pm.
