Chicana Fotos Exhibit Reception

Featuring the artist, Nancy De Los Santos

Chicana Fotos Chicana Fotos
Chicana Fotos
Featuring photographs by accomplished filmmaker and writer Nancy De Los Santos, "Chicano Fotos" offers a striking depiction of struggles for social justice among Mexican Americans in the 1970s. The exhibit, which makes its way to Lane Hall from Wayne State University's Walter P. Reuther Library, includes rare images of scenes from Chicana/o history, such as the United Farm Workers of America organizing activities in Chicago, protests against police brutality and for farm worker rights in Texas, and the first global conference on women, the International Women’s Year Conference, in Mexico City.

This reception will celebrate "Chicana Fotos" with the artist herself, Nancy De Los Santos, who has dedicated her life and career to rewriting and redefining images of Latina/os in mainstream media. All members of the community interested in viewing and discussing the exhibit are welcome to attend.

This exhibit and reception are presented with support of the Department of Women's Studies and the Latina/o Studies Program.
