The Contemporary Directions Ensemble (CDE) will perform with members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) on this concert themed, "Between earth and heaven," conducted by Oriol Sans. Internationally-acclaimed soprano, Tony Arnold, will be the soloist for Messiaen’s Chants de terre et de ciel, arranged for voice and chamber ensemble. Additional works will include the etherial Aequilibria by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, the earthiness of Lorca’s poetry in George Crumb Madrigals Book II, the angular textures of Amy Beth Kirsten’s L’Ange Pâle, and Nico Muhly's Hymns for Private Use. Presented in collaboration with the SMTD Chamber Music Department.
