Wouldn’t it be nice if “getting the notes right” was all it took to deliver communicative, personal, spontaneous-seeming performances? Drawn, in part, from the thinking and writings of noted drama pedagogue and practitioner Konstantin Stanislavsky, and with applications to piano literature, we consider other roles a performer plays and how to develop them through thoughtful teaching.
