Join SMTD for the virtual premiere of the David Lang’s Pulitzer-Prize winning work, “the little match girl passion,” performed by the University of Michigan Chamber Choir.

Originally performed at the University of Michigan Museum of Art on Feb. 18, 2020, the concert tells the story of The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. The performance was the opening event of Lang’s week-long William Bolcom Guest Residency at the University of Michigan.

Throughout the virtual premiere, Eugene Rogers, Director of Choral Activities and Conductor of Chamber Choir, Matthew Ozawa, Assistant Professor and Stage Director, and student performers will be answering your questions in the video’s comments section. Learn about the performance, rehearsal process, the chamber choir, and much more.

“the little match girl passion” is part of SMTD’s new virtual performance series SMTD Presents. New performances premiere each week at facebook.com/umichsmtd.

This program is supported by the Katherine Tuck Enrichment Fund and the Greg Hodes and Heidi Hertel Hodes—Partners in the Arts Endowment Fund.
