Dr. John Evans, Certified Mental Performance Consultant, will be discussing the field of sports psychology. He will be discussing options for degrees/certification, his day-to-day experiences working in sport psychology and other tips for students interested in the career.More information about the speaker:Dr. John Evans, PhD is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and the Director of Mental Conditioning & Human Performance at BLND Health. He received his BA at Kalamazoo College, MA in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University, and a PhD in Sports & Exercise Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Evans has worked with performers in all contexts to enhance performance, engagement skills, fostering environments where consistent, high level performance is the standard. He also spent seven years working with the U.S Army Special Operations at Fort Bragg, N.C where he trained mental performance and human engagement skills.
Today, Dr. Evans uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in his work with individual athletes, athletic teams, organizational consulting, and direct supervision with Masters-level students studying sports social work.
