After Mangi retired from a career as a scientist and business owner, he became deeply involved in dementia awareness and education. Jim is a volunteer community educator and conference speaker for the Alzheimer's Association. He chairs the "Dementia Friendly Saline", a nonprofit that focuses on educating the community so that people living with dementia can live with less difficulty and more acceptance. Additionally, Jim is a caregiver to his wife, who is living with "Younger Onset Alzheimer's Disease."
