A joint presentation by Christian Brecht, Consul General of Germany, and Graham Paul, Consul General of France.

In light of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Elysee Treaty between France and Germany, the address will provide an in-depth French and German perspective on the Euro crisis and the challenges facing Europe and the transatlantic partnership today.

Dr. Christian Brecht has been Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chicago since August 2012. He joined the Foreign Service in 1980 and has served in Germany, China, Myanmar, Chile, Australia, France, Pakistan, and Canada. Dr. Brecht studied law at Tübingen University and received his PhD in law from the University of Geneva.

Mr. Graham Paul assumed the position of Consul General of France in Chicago in June, 2010. He joined the Foreign Service in 1984 and has spent much of his career working in Germany or on French-German relations, most recently as Deputy Head of the French Embassy in Berlin. Graham Paul holds a degree in law and is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of Bordeaux.
