John Burnside

John Burnside has published eleven collections of poetry, including Feast Days, winner of the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, The Asylum Dance, winner of the Whitbread Poetry Award and The Good Neighbour. His most recent collections are Gift Songs and The Hunt in the Forest. He is also the author of a collection of short stories, Burning Elvis, and seven novels, including The Dumb House, Living Nowhere, The Devil's Footprints and Glister. His memoir, A Lie About My Father, was published in 2006 and was awarded the Saltire Book of the Year and the Scottish Arts Council Non-Fiction Book of the Year awards. He is a Professor of English at the University of St Andrews, where he teaches American poetry, literature and ecology, and creative writing.
