OLLI at U-M (50+)
Speaker: Andrei S. Markovits, Professor of Comparative Politics and German, U-M
Particularly in a place like Ann Arbor, virtually everything associated with the term "Europe" and "European" is positively coded: culture, music, education, erudition, history, geography, and lifestyle--Cosmopolitanism. There also exists a decidedly Counter-Cosmopolitan Europe, none more than on its football (soccer) grounds. The lecture will present and analyze this problem.
