The Popes of Baroque Rome & Their Architecture
OLLI at U-M (50+)
We will discuss the architecture of 43 popes who reigned during the greatest building period in papal history. The popes built palaces and churches, including the new basilica of St. Peters, from 1506 thru 1626. Kingsbury Marzolf taught architectural and urban history at Michigan for 36 years, including a dozen years in the University’s summer program in Florence.
