Semi-global existence theory for wave equations

Christopher Stith

Bootstrap methods are a powerful tool for proving quantitative existence results in the theory of partial differential equations. We will discuss these in the context of nonlinear wave equations and discuss applications to general relativity. Along the way we will construct various energies that arise in the study of such equations and discuss how these are used in their analysis.
