A Symposium Honoring Professor Daniel E. Atkins
Dan Atkins' academic career has spanned over 50 years of the computer revolution, 40 of them at the University of Michigan: a "wonderful privilege," he says. He was Dean of the College of Engineering, Dean of the School of Information, and Associate Vice President for Research Cyberinfrastructure. This symposium honors him in the 40th year of his ongoing career at U-M, bringing together some of the extraordinary people he was worked with over the years - including some of those fields' top executives - to interact around contemporary topics where Dan has made contributions.
The symposium is free and includes lunch. You must RSVP by October 3. The symposium will be held at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty.
Panelists include Vint Cerf, the "father" of the modern Internet; vice presidents of Microsoft and Google; and luminaries from foundations, private corporations and government agencies.
