Navigating Graduate School with a Disability
Are you a graduate student with a disability or chronic illness* seeking advice and community about navigating graduate school with? Join us for Surviving Graduate School with a Disability, a workshop by and for graduate students with disabilities.
It can be difficult to create community with other disabled students while in graduate school, particularly a community that’s focused on our professional development and academic success as students with disabilities. The purpose of this workshop is to create conversation and develop strategies about how to succeed in graduate school as a student with a disability.
This workshop will involve a brief panel discussion, where you’ll begin to get to know the panelists, followed by a guided small group discussion in breakout rooms led by panelists about navigating graduate school with a disability. These discussions are an opportunity to share experiences, learn from others, and discuss professional development relevant to individuals with disabilities. Panelists are fellow graduate students who have been at the University of Michigan for at least a year and identify as having a disability.
*This event is designed to be inclusive to all graduate students who may fall under the umbrella of disability and chronic illnesses. If disability or illness meaningfully influences your life, regardless of your diagnosis (or lack thereof), this event is for you!
