Using the Arts to Flip Understanding Facilitated by Margot Greenlee
When you’re on a mental “hamster wheel,” running faster doesn’t help. Slowing down, stepping to the side, and seeing from another perspective does.
In our time as graduate students and postdocs, we may find ourselves feeling burnt out on the very work that got us excited about this journey in the first place, or feeling stuck in our thinking about where it’s all going. To get out of this rut, we need to try new perspectives and approaches. In this workshop, we use arts-based activities to open up new neural pathways. We refresh our thinking and jumpstart inspiration with visual art, poetic language, and movement. This workshop re-ignites a range of intelligences and skills inherent in us all – no formal arts training required.
What to expect:
fun, immersive, artistic exploration
guided critical reflection
one-on-one discussion with peers
2 hours that fly by
What you’ll get:
dedicated time and structure for exploring an area or question that’s important to you
refreshed perspective on that area or question
Snacks and beverages will be provided!
This workshop is co-hosted by the OGPS Health and Wellness team in collaboration with the facilitator and a2ru.This project was made possible by a grant from the Arts Initiative at the University of Michigan.
