Michigan Daily Journalism Conference 2012

The University of Michigan Detroit Center in partnership with the Michigan Daily, will host the 2012 Michigan Daily High School Journalism Conference. This free, one-day conference takes place on Saturday, November 3 from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Michigan Daily High School Journalism Conference provides students with an opportunity to listen to professional journalists from the Detroit Free Press and participate in hands-on workshops taught by staff members of the Michigan Daily. This engagement is an excellent opportunity for high school students to learn about the journalism industry at the college and professional levels while improving on their writing abilities.
The workshop sessions are designed for high school students (especially juniors and seniors) who are considering working for a college newspaper. Additionally, the sessions will cover content ranging from daily operations of a newspaper to basic design skills. Anyone with an interest in journalism is also welcome to attend this event.
Some of the sessions include: Lede and Nutgraf writing, how to write a good entertainment review, crafting editorials, design, grammar, photojournalism and more.
