Community Remembered/Reconstructed/Reassessed: Detroit’s Chene Street Archives

This presentation examines the intangible heritage of Chene Street's neighborhood–once one of Detroit's “most vibrant commercial corridors,” today one of its most devastated and depopulated areas. We show how re-constructing individual stories from members of this community and building a digital archive/exhibition contributes to preserving Chene Street's heritage.
