The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) will showcase both sworn and professional job opportunities within the department at the second annual Pave the Way Career Expo on June 10, 2023.

SDPD offers various benefits and pathways in a law enforcement career. The event will allow potential candidates to learn more about the department, the hiring process, the academy or other advancement opportunities for their career.

“As a large agency, the San Diego Police Department offers career opportunities above that of most other law enforcement agencies regionally,” Police Chief David Nisleit said. “With SDPD, you can work patrol, become a detective, or try out for S.W.A.T. or K-9 and more, within just fiveyears or less of joining the department. We encourage anyone who is interested in an exciting and fulfilling career with SDPD to join us for the expo to learn more and sign up.”

The Pave the Way Expo will feature demonstrations from various units, including S.W.A.T., K-9, Crime Lab, Communications (dispatch and radio), and more. Attendees will also be ableto try the Force Option Simulator, where they will get to experience scenarios as a San Diego Police Officer.

The free event is open to anyone ages 18 and older and will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees must register online ahead of the event: https://www.sandiego.gov/event/pave-way-career-expo-2023.
