Life Sciences Orchestra Winter Concert
Featuring Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5
The U-M Life Sciences Orchestra, made up of members of the U-M medical, health science and life science community, will present a free concert of works by William Grant Still (Festive Overture), Gabriel Faure (Pelleas et Melisande) and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Symphony No. 5).
The performance will be led by music director Luca Antonucci, assisted by Sara Aldana. Both are students in the orchestral conducting graduate program at the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
The concert will be introduced by LSO co-founder David J. Brown, M.D., the Medical School’s Associate Vice President and Associate Dean for Health Equity and Inclusion.
The conductors will give a free pre-concert lecture at 3:15 in the lower level of the building. The doors to the main hall will open at 3 pm to allow audience members a chance to select seats before attending the lecture.
No tickets are required. Masks are strongly recommended.
The LSO showcases the musical talents of dozens of faculty, staff, students and alumni from across the university’s medical, health science and life science community. The LSO is part of the Gifts of Art program, which brings the world of art and music to Michigan Medicine and accepts donations to support its concerts.
