Innovation Insights: A Keynote with Jeff Maggioncalda and Marni Baker Stein
The Future of Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence
Moderated by Scott E. Page
About this Event
Artificial intelligence - particularly generative AI - is on the mind of many involved in education. At the University of Michigan, 68% of undergrads report using GenAI tools, while 64% of instructors believe their teaching will be influenced by GenAI technologies. The potential of generative AI in higher education is enormous, and many institutions, including U-M and industry partners like Coursera, are taking an active role in developing and using GenAI tools.
Jeff Maggioncalda and Marni Baker Stein, the CEO and chief content officer of Coursera, respectively, will share how they see artificial intelligence being integrated into teaching and learning – and into their own work. Their talk will be moderated by Scott E. Page, Distinguished University Professor with appointments in both the Ross School of Business and College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
From new GenAI-based instructional pedagogies and how GenAI may impact the job search, to how Coursera is integrating AI-powered features into its platform, Maggioncalda and Baker Stein will share real-world insights and examples. In a wide-ranging discussion, Page, Maggioncalda, and Baker Stein will outline a potential future in which artificial intelligence in higher education can benefit students, learners, and institutions, and be used responsibly, ethically, and legally.
Discussion and questions are encouraged.
