SMBC Meet & Greets - Banking & Capital Markets
Our SMBC Meet and Greet Series is for all students seeking a 2024 internship or analyst opportunity with our firm. Each session will consist of overviews of the various groups that hire into our programs led bythe business members themselves followed by an open-forum Q&A session. Since each session will be different, students are encouraged to attend as many as they like.
Debt Capital Markets (DCM)
The Debt Capital Markets group is a client-facing division of SMBC’s broker dealer, SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc., and is responsible for delivering the full spectrum of financing solutions for the bank’s investment grade clients viathe fixed-income market. DCM advises on structure, price, and strategy for primary market debt offerings, often part of broader multi-product pitches. Summer analysts may gain exposure to facilitating dialogue between issuers and fixed income investors, advising clients on hybrid capital structuring, and advising on debt portfolio optimization via liability management exercises, among other fixed income financing solutions.
Structured Finance Group (SFG)
The Structured Finance Group is a client-facing group within SMBC’s broker dealer, SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc. The group is responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of structured finance products including Term ABS, ABCP/ABL, and CLOs, among others. As a part of the group, summer analysts will help the team advise on structural execution alternatives and strategies, provide market and pricing updates to new and existing clients, and drive broader cross-sell opportunities for the Bank.
High Yield Capital Markets (HYCM)
The High Yield Capital Markets group is a client-facing group within SMBC’s broker dealer, SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc. The group is responsible for providing capital markets advisory for non-investment grade rated corporations and sponsor portfolio companies. The group advises on capital structure, new issue pricing, and syndication strategies for new debt offerings. High Yield Capital Markets also provides “real-time” market insight by leveraging the High Yield Sales & Trading team’s direct feedback from investors.
