Anthony Doerr was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the author of novels About Grace and All the Light We Cannot See, which was awarded the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. He is also the author of Cloud Cuckoo Land, which was a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award, a finalist for Novel of the Year in the British Book Awards, and winner of the Grand prix de littérature américaine in France.

Doerr is the 2023 DeRoy-Graf Memorial Visiting Professor in Honors and is currently teaching a mini-course for Honors students entitled A World in a Grain of Sand: Examining the Formulaic and the Unfamiliar in Creative Work. In this open lecture, Doerr will discuss his most recent novel, Cloud Cuckoo Land, as well as answer questions live from the audience.

Doors to Hill Auditorium open at 5:30pm. Parking is not available on site. Public parking can be found at the Republic Parking Garage which is a five minute walk from Hill Auditorium. It is located at 510 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor, MI 48109. Accessible parking is available in the Thayer Street parking garage located on the same block as Hill Auditorium at 216 S.
