A Program of Research to Advance Science and Engineering Education: A Success Story
Olusola (Sola) Adesope / Washington State University
Research in STEM education (especially engineering education) has grown exponentially in the last decade. In our quest to find the best evidence to teach and learn STEM concepts, Dr. Adesope has worked with colleagues from around the country and especially the WSU’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture to advance a strong program of research that has resulted in about 165 publications and 15 grant-funded projects as PI/co-PI mostly from the National Science Foundation. In this presentation, Dr. Adesope will provide summaries of these STEM projects (mostly engineering and computer science education projects) and some key highlights of their major discoveries and advancements of research in engineering and computer science education. He will conclude his presentation with current efforts to provide evidence-based practices in engineering education through the editorial work with the Journal of Engineering Education.
