Exhibits Opening: Race in this Place and Glimpse

Race in this Place: A Community Conversation and Glimpse: People of Our Community open Friday, November 16 with a public reception from 6-8 p.m. Race explores four themes: health, education, the legal system, and immigration. It identifies issues of race in each area, and presents information about local organizations working on these issues.
Glimpse uses 22 large-format portraits to capture a sliver of our community and their thoughts on race; to highlight the diversity in our region; and to pique our curiosity. We hope to inspire our community to go deeper, to move beyond the “glimpses” of life and into real relationships with folks who are outside of our normal social circle. Race and Glimpse are part of the Understanding Race Project, an audience engagement effort launched in anticipation of the nationally traveling exhibit, RACE: Are we so different?, on display at the Museum from February 9-May 27, 2013. RSVP by visiting the Museum homepage (www.ummnh.org) and clicking on the quicklink RSVP Exhibit Opening.
