"Equity issues in scientific publishing"
In June 2023, I began a term as Chair of the AAS Publications Committee. The PC provides independent oversight of AAS Journals (AJ, ApJ, ApJS, ApJL, PSJ, RNAAS) and acts as a direct conduit between the community and the Journals staff. Much of our current and ongoing work on the PC involves advancing equity in scientific publishing. I will briefly highlight some recent efforts, including the AAS Publication Support Fund and the AAS Journals referee training program, and a portion of the time will be reserved for discussion and dialogue.
