The 7-week mini-course "Kongo to Congo Square", led by Kongolese master teacher Biza Sompa and Professor of Dance Robin Wilson, looks at the African roots of New Orleans dance, music and material culture. These ideas are embodied through dance classes and weekly lectures, beginning on January 24. Then, students travel to New Orleans for a 1-week residency filled with site visits and immersive historical experience. Class activities conclude with community workshops in Detroit and Ann Arbor.

This informational session will describe the course in more detail and answer questions you might have. All with interest are invited to join. Registration deadline has been extended to November 1.
