Abstract: Dr. Steitz’s talk will be primarily historical, with many examples of discoveries of RNA-RNA base pairing over her 50-year+ career being reviewed. At the end, she will mention her latest unpublished finding: how RNA-RNA-based pairing prevents neuronal death under stress conditions.
