In this workshop, New York artist Alli Berman will describe and demonstrate her fun PuzzleArt Therapy activities. Berman had a CVA (stroke) years ago. She experimented in her studio and collaborated with behavioral optometrist Dr. Susan Fisher, neuroscientists, occupational therapists, educators and others to develop the perceptual PuzzleArt Therapy System. As participants use their eyes, fingers and brains to follow swirling, colorful paths, they are giving themselves a great brain fitness workout to develop stronger, faster cognitive function. Used in clinics, universities, therapy offices, elementary schools, rehabilitation centers, private and military hospitals throughout the US and in 15 other countries, PuzzleArt Therapy can help everyone from children with learning disabilities to soldiers returning from war with traumatic brain injuries. In the Gifts of Art gallery where the workshop will be held, an interactive exhibition of Berman's work is on display until Feb. 4, 2013. If planning to bring a group to the workshop, please call Gifts of Art office at 734-936-ARTS (2787) in advance of your visit.
