"African American Drama"

An exploration of major plays, movements, and figures that have marked the development of African American drama in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. We will study: the interplay of movements; political, cultural and artistic ideas; and the critical theories that mark the development of African American theatre. Thorne Compton is Professor Emeritus of English and Theatre at the U of South Carolina.
