The Black Graduate Student Association is organizing its first interdisciplinary Black Graduate Research Symposium from March 21st-March 23rd, 2024. As part of our mission to recognize, center, and foster the growth of Black Graduate Scholarship on campus we are creating a space to celebrate the academic pursuits and work of our community. The theme for this year’s symposium is Vibrancy and Vitality: A Love Letter to the Critical Interventions of Black Scholarship. This multifaceted event invites research presentations - in both oral and poster format - that honor fields relating to Black studies and Anti-racism, or otherwise highlights current work being conducted by Black Graduate student(s) at the University of Michigan. Additionally, the symposium will provide resources for those looking to facilitate roundtable discussions and workshops that are connected to this year’s theme or centered around academic development. Workshops and roundtable discussions are expected to be held March 22nd, while presentations will be held on March 23rd. Further details on symposium scheduling, including our keynote and networking events, will be forthcoming.Registration for the symposium will officially open on February 5th but we are currently accepting proposals for potential talks, poster presentations, workshops, and roundtable discussions. If you are interested in attending the symposium or would like to submit a proposal please fill out the following form: https://form.jotform.com/240245102727144The BGSA asks that all proposals are submitted prior to February 23rd. However we will continue to accept proposals submissions until spots are filled.
