USDA Food Safety Inspection Service Recruiting Event - Nacogdoches, TX
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is holding a recruiting event for Food Safety Inspectors at Texas Workforce Solutions, 235 North University Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961, to fill vacancies in Palestine, Lufkin, Carthage and Center, TX.
What does a USDA Inspector do? Consumer Safety Inspectors work in one or more privately owned meat, poultry and egg processing plants.They ensure that the establishment's Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plans meet regulatory requirements. In addition, they conduct regulatory oversight activities inside the plants in matters relating to other areas of consumer protection, e.g., misbranding. Consumer Safety Inspectors play a vital role in protecting the public's health.
Our Food Inspectors: Perform tasks related to the examination of food animals (cattle, poultry, etc) in privately-owned meat or poultry plants. They perform multiple tasks before and after slaughter, guaranteeing that the product is not contaminated, maintain sanitation procedures while ensuring the product is fit to eat and compliant with Federal laws.
If you have experience in meat or poultry slaughter, processing, or other food manufacturing plant, meat cutter/butcher, quality control/lab, chef/cook, or as a veterinary technician,
or,
You have completed a 4-year course of study leading toa bachelor's degree in an accredited college or university that included at least (for the Food Inspector) 12 semester hours in biological, physical, mathematical, or agricultural sciences,
or,
You completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a (for the Consumer Safety Inspector) bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours/credits in any combination of coursework in the areas of: agricultural, biological, or physical sciences, food technology, epidemiology, home economics, pharmacy, engineering, or nutrition...we want to talk to you!
A $5,000 sign-on bonus available. May be eligible for Accelerated Promotion Program and relocation reimbursement. Excellent benefits.
