The College of Engineering will honor Professor Judy Jin for her appointment as the A. Galip Ulsoy Collegiate Professor of Engineering. Please join Professor Jin and Interim Dean Steve L. Ceccio, the Vincent T. and Gloria M Gorguze Professor of Engineering, for the lecture and ceremony.

Professor Jin will present a lecture entitled, "Data Fusion to Empower Smart Manufacturing".

Abstract
In the era of Industrial Big Data, the convergence of advanced sensor technologies and the Internet of Things has unveiled unprecedented opportunities to empower
smart manufacturing through holistic quality control. However, the abundance of data poses challenges in data analytics, especially when dealing with massive
high-dimensional streaming data with spatial and temporal heterogeneity. This challenge has driven our data fusion research, leveraging the rapid evolution of machine learning and high computing capabilities to advance quality control
methodologies. This talk will begin with an exploration of opportunities and challenges in the interface research between data science and quality engineering. Several exemplary research projects will be discussed, focusing on information integration and data-driven decision-making to elevate holistic quality control in smart manufacturing. Those examples will also illustrate the
imperative need for interdisciplinary collaboration and broad partnerships between academia and industry.
