The Carve-out Purchase of a Major Business--Dynamics, Realities, and Lessons Learned

In 2007, Dan Arbour, a veteran employee of a major local employer, approached his company about carving out a significant business line from the company. Through creativity, perseverance, and great initial timing, Arbour was able to secure the purchase of entity employing 450 people the Ann Arbor area. Everything was going fine until the great forces of the economic landscape caused rapid changes in his business model while the world's financial footing lost its stability. Arbour identifies the key dynamics, realities, and major lessons learned from his experience of business transformation.
