HEP-Astro Seminar | Cosmological Results From the DESI Year-1 Baryon Acoustic Oscillations Measurements
Dragan Huterer (U-M Physics)
I will present and discuss cosmological results from the measurement of baryon acoustic oscillations in the first year of observations from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI Y1), which were released on April 4, 2024. These results are based on a fully blinded clustering analysis of six million galaxies and quasars, as well as the Lyman-alpha forest, mapping out the expansion history of the universe over the past 11 billion years. Signature results include constraints on dark energy, Hubble constant, and neutrino mass, as well as tantalizing hints of an anomaly in the dark-energy sector. These Y1 and future (Y2-Y5) DESI results will provide an important contribution to the overall constraints on dark energy, neutrino mass, and primordial non-Gaussianity.
