“Cho has been elevated straight to the big time.” (The New York Times)
Seong-Jin Cho’s innate musicality and overwhelming talent have made him one of today’s most in-demand and exciting pianists, with a worldwide following that continues to grow in size and passion. He is at once thoughtful, poetic, assertive, and tender, with virtuosic and colorful playing that combines panache with purity and an impressive natural sense of balance. For his UMS recital debut, the 2015 Chopin International Competition winner celebrates Ravel’s 150th birthday with a concert featuring the composer’s complete solo piano works, a monumental undertaking that will be performed in only a few select cities in 2025 — with Ann Arbor as the only Midwest date on the tour.
