Where Research Meets the Real World
How Detroit communities inform the Poverty Solutions research agenda
Detroit community groups and residents are invited to share their voices in an open panel discussion with a team of researchers from the University of Michigan's Poverty Solutions initiative. The panelists include:
- Karen Kling, assistant director of policy and impact;
- Sam Stragand, senior program manager for the Detroit Partnership on Economic Mobility; and
- Amanda Nothaft, director of data and evaluation.
The panelists will discuss their process for engaging the community in research on land contracts, the City ShotSpotters Community Violence Intervention program, and homeowners' insurance in Detroit. They want to hear your perspectives on these issues, how to engage community groups in research, and what it means for community organizations to speak on behalf of residents.
RSVP for admission, parking validation, and refreshments.
