Internships and Government Careers in Research, Policy, and Analysis
Often called the “congressional watchdog,” the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan agency that advises Congress about ways to make government more efficient, effective, ethical, equitable, and responsive. One way GAO supports oversight of taxpayer dollars is by reporting on agency program and policy effectiveness, analyzing policy, and outlining options for Congress. GAO’s 15 mission teams cover federal programs and activities across government.
The session will include a discussion about using USAJobs (including tips and tricks) for applying for jobs in the federal government; information about GAO (including internship opportunities); and a panel of GAO employees with doctoral degrees in various disciplines who will share their personal perspectives on working at GAO.
GAO staff will be available to meet with students individually following the session from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
