Detroit's Olympic Uprising
Sport Management faculty member Stefan Szymanski has partnered with LSA faculty member Silke-Maria Weineck and Detroit filmmaker Aaron Schillinger (Boblo Boats) to create the documentary, "Detroit's Olympic Uprising", chronicling Detroit's bid to host the 1968 Olympic Games as the city's civil rights movement becomes more assertive.
The Detroit Center, the U-M Center for Race & Ethnicity in Sport (headed by faculty member Ketra Armstrong), and the U-M Arts Initiative are hosting a free screening of the documentary on 7/23 from 5 to 7 p.m. Enjoy light refreshments and a thought-provoking discussion led by the production team after the film.
