Trisha Dowling, ELI Lecturer & Ryan Yip, SEAS Graduate Student.
As part of LSA’s Year of Sustainability, ELI offers a special two-part workshop series to help international and multilingual U-M students and scholars engage in conversations about sustainability and carbon neutrality. Co-presented by ELI Lecturer Trisha Dowling and SEAS graduate student Ryan Yip
Part 1: Participating in Sustainability Conversations on Campus and Beyond (Monday, October 7, 2024 6-8PM)
2024 is the College of LSA’s The Year of Sustainability, and this workshop equips international and other multilingual U-M students with speaking and listening skills to join conversations about sustainability and support U-M’s carbon neutrality goals, even if they are not experts on climate issues. Co-presented by ELI Lecturer Trisha Dowling and SEAS graduate student Ryan Yip, this interactive session will cover key language and vocabulary for sharing your perspective on environmental issues. They will also share strategies for navigating challenging discussions and collaborating across disciplines. Please come prepared to participate in small group discussions.

Part 2: Nature Walk at the Arb (Saturday, October 12, 2024 10:30 AM)
Join Ryan and Trisha on the Saturday following our workshop on Sustainability Conversations for a casual nature walk at the Arb. This is an opportunity to take a break from studying, connect with nature, and enjoy conversation with fellow students. Don’t forget to bring water and wear shoes that are comfortable for walking on hilly trails. We will walk rain or shine! Further information, including meeting location, will be provided upon registration.
