Food, Health & Sustainability: from gardens to global supply
Catherine Badgley, PhD, M.F.S. Asst. Prof. of Ecology and Evolutionar Biology
The global food system is poised for change. The burdens of the industrial food system on environmental quality, biodiversity, rising obesity, and economic inequality lie in stark contrast to the grassroots efforts around the world to transform the food system into a force for environmental protection and economic revitalization. We will evaluate the causes and effects of these different systems, drawing upon the food system in Michigan and global examples.
